RAPS is Seeking a Support Worker to assist an Individual with Autism (S47)

Location: St. Albert

Days: Monday to Friday (flexible hours: to be discussed with employer)

Hours: 6-8 hour shifts available

Job Description: duties include but are not limited to

· Personal hygiene reminders

· Cue individual to carry out household tasks (laundry, cleaning)

· Assist with job coaching and navigate volunteer opportunities

· Accompany individual at work and volunteering

· Help create a weekly budget

· Run errands together (grocery shopping)

· Promote an active life style (going to the gym) & encourage healthy meal options

· Assist individual to become involved with Special Olympics & other inclusive opportunities within the community

· Walk the family dog together and go on bike rides

· Supervision and companionship

Please Note: you will be working around 1 hypoallergenic dog (not in the client’s home).

Qualifications and Other Requirements: must have a recent vulnerable sector check, driver’s licence and vehicle for client transport, current first aid & CPR (or willing to obtain prior to hire), and a minimum of 6-months experience supporting individual’s who have a developmental disability. Must be comfortable creating and following schedules. An understanding of Autism is a strong asset.

Rate of Pay: $18.40/hour

Mileage Reimbursement: To be discussed with employer
