Responsibilities

What will you be doing?

• Plans, organizes and supervises the production functions of the department
• Coordinates with other plant personnel in order to attain efficiency, cost and quality of plant objectives
• Ensures the cost effectiveness of the production functions, including the control of labour utilization – preventing excess hours; reducing changeover, downtime and overtime; and efficient usage of production related equipment.
• Fosters positive working relationships. Responds proactively to performance concerns, discipline, employee complaints and other employee relations matters including employee discipline.
• Directs movement of raw material and finished product to storage and work areas in an organized and timely manner.
• Report and identify any hazards in the workplace. Report any accidents, injuries requiring first aid, health care, lost time injuries, occupational diseases, or incidents immediately to the Production Manager, and Human Resources.
  
  

Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

• Dedicated and proven leadership abilities to work closely with all business functions
• Must have an excellent understanding of glass fabrication equipment, tempering line and materials used within the department.
• The position requires knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies as well as health and safety legislation and policies.
• Advanced motor skills are need when dealing with hand tools and machinery.
• Strong oral and written communication skills are required to give direction to staff, co-ordinate with their manager and other supervisors.
