Overview:
The Supervisor, Estimating is responsible for oversight of the estimating function, including supervising Estimator and support roles, and committing funds for physical damage claims. You’ll be required to have knowledge and understanding of the Light Vehicle Repair Industry, including the specialty and recreational vehicle (RV) repair industry.
Responsibilities:
  • Monitors and coordinates the workflow of Estimating Pods comprised of Estimators and Estimate Reviewers, in order to maximize service to the customers.
  • Assesses the quality of estimates completed by staff to determine training needs and to support performance appraisals.
  • Provides guidance and support to help resolve issues involving customers, repair facilities and claims staff.
  • Works in conjunction with internal departments such as Estimating Services, Accredited Repair, Research and Training, the Claims Processing Unit, and Vehicle Safety to resolve issues.
  • Collaborates with Adjusting Staff and/or leadership to resolve issues involving customers, repair shops, and claims staff.
  • Works with body shops to resolve issues regarding damages, supplement discrepencies and/or changes, as required.
  • Conducts performance evaluations using regular feedback and coaching techniques as a means for employee development and performance improvement.
  • Participates in the recruitment for positions within the unit.
  • Fosters a high performance team culture that is consistent with the corporate vision, values and leading practices.
Qualifications:


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ten years of bench experience in the autobody repair, including two years of estimating in a customer service capacity.

OR

  • Journeyperson Certificate (Red Seal) or Certificate of Qualification in Motor Vehicle Body Repairer, Automotive Service Technician, or Truck and Transport Mechanic.
  • Seven years bench experience in autobody repair, including three years of estimating experience in a customer service capacity.


Plus the following”

  • Platinum status in Estimator or Auto Physical Damage Appraiser role within the I-CAR Gold Class Professionals Designation program, or willingness to complete and maintain designation.
  • Experience in a leadership capacity is an asset.

2. Technical Knowledge and Skills:
  • Working knowledge of applicable OEM requirements
  • Working knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations

  • Must be physically able to work from ladders, lifts or heights of three metres or more
  • Required to wear hi-visibility clothing (jackets/outerwear); PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) Hazardous material suits, respirator, gloves for remediation estimating; Hi-Voltage gloves worn for Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Estimating
  • May be required to estimate outdoors
  • Required to travel to and from off-site locations and body shops (weekly)


Conditions of Employment

  • Candidates required a valid driver’s licence.
  • Successful candidate must complete I-CAR Gold Class Professionals Designation with Platinum status within 3 months.
