JOB SUMMARY

This position ensures that sanitation programs across the McCain organization (including policies and procedures) are accurately developed, trained, implemented, monitored, assessed, and exposed to continuous improvement activities that are consistent with established food regulations and best practices to ensure the production of safe, wholesome foods. The position provides leadership to regional sanitation and food safety leadership support the identification of, assessment, problem solving, and supporting implementation of food safety principles for compliance to Preventative Controls, HACCP, 3rd party audits, food safety regulation. This position requires a flexible work schedule to support global sanitation.

ACCOUNTABILITIES include, but are not limited to: This individual works cohesively with the Director of Global Food Safety and the regions to develop, implement and continuously improve on the sanitation strategy, global programs, policies and standards (KEFSQ) and key performance metrics and indicators.

  • Sets clear objectives and strategies, in collaboration with the Director of Global Food Safety regions to continuously improve on the standard of clean.
  • This individual is responsible for assuring compliance with both global policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluates facility sanitary conditions analytically (and visually where needed), assesses risk based on food safety, principles of public health and principles of sanitary design.
  • Drive change and continuous improvement as it relates to systematic approach to data collection, trending and assessment of sanitation data (i.e. pre-op results, MSS, etc.)

RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. {Note: Accountabilities will be reviewed as McCain Foods FS and Sanitation goals and objectives are met or evolve}

  • Support McCain Foods as the subject matter expert for all sanitation related activities and implications thereof on the quality and safety of products produced.
  • This individual will support the regions in the investigation, communication, and resolution of food safety and quality incidents associated with sanitation. This includes root cause analysis support and activities for preventative measures.
  • Works closely with engineering and maintenance to identify capital expense needs and ensure appropriate preventative maintenance programs are utilized
  • Sets the direction for ongoing sanitation verification activities and validation testing
  • Lead and drive initiative associated with innovative approaches in sanitation, centered around efficacy and consistency of sanitation practices and processes.
  • Conduct and document data-based risk assessments using technical, scientific, regulatory, and industry inputs. This includes active review, interpretation, and communication of recommendations for food safety assessments or investigations, along with assessing the maturity of the global sanitation programs.
  • Effectively communicate and liaise with both in plant and cross-functional groups plant quality and plant managers to problem solve, trouble shoot, and resolve concerns related to sanitation. This includes evolving culture and understand throughout the organization, elevating knowledge related to sanitation and impacts thereof.
  • Identify, develop, and support execution of sanitation and food safety applications, controls, processes, and best practices (policies and procedures) in alignment with KEFSQ, McCain and Industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
    • Communicate with the regions and key partners (i.e. chemical suppliers) for continuous improvement activities, follow-up of reports, and overall compliance
    • Development, training, and follow-up activities associated with internal and external activities.
  • Communicate and facilitate the sharing of sanitation best practices to prevent reoccurrence and enhance food safety programs across the network.
  • Support KEFSQ and 3rd party audits through participation and providing assistance to drive corrective action on audit deficiencies.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a minimum of 5-7 years experience in plant quality/food safety/sanitation
  • Experience evolving and leading multisite sanitation program(s).
  • Experience working in a global organization and driving global initiatives.
  • Experience working with maintenance, engineering, quality, and manufacturing.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with diverse sanitation applications (CIP, COP) and sanitary design principles (AFFI, EHEDG).

  • Demonstrated track record of supporting the delivery of winning products through effective / efficient approaches to sanitation.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, statistics understanding, combined with the ability to think strategically and drive projects from development to completion.
  • Ability to recognize, disseminate, and reconcile information into insights and trends that advance McCain’s ability to make better business decisions.
  • Established capability in managing stakeholders across a complex matrix and around the globe through use of strong interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills.
  • Experience in managing external relationships with vendors and consultants.
  • Knowledge of Sanitation Chemistry, Science of Cleaning and Sanitation
  • Knowledge of global food standards, regulations and guidelines.

Required Travel: estimated 40%
