Position Overview:

The Sports Centre Programmer will be a customer service oriented individual responsible for assisting with the scheduling and promoting of all activity spaces and events in theStrathmore Motor Products Sports Centre and other Town of Strathmore athletic and community facilities. The successful candidate will report directly to the Sports Centre Manager.

The Sports Centre Programmer will assist with the daily operations of the facility through scheduling and coordinating athletic spaces including gymnasiums, athletic fields and ensure facility booking details are managed efficiently and in accordance with the Town of Strathmore and Sports Centre procedures.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Facilitating rental requests, including contract creation and payment invoicing
  • Assist with the execution of rental contracts including meetings with clients as needed, creating event requirements in a timely manner within established timeframes
  • Develop and schedule new or existing Sport Centre programs including but not limited to fitness classes, youth programs and events
  • Maintain and enforce the Sport Centre Policy and Procedure Manual
  • Open and close building following established security procedures
  • Assist with memberships sales and servicing, and scheduling staff based on facility needs

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 1-year experience, preferably in a recreation/fitness environment
  • Good interpersonal, customer service and public relations skills (i.e., is informative, accurate, flexible, inclusive and adaptable)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team setting, as well as on own initiative
  • Ability to adapt and learn new skills in the workplace
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and solve problems in the best interest of the Town
  • Ability to exercise good judgement in keeping with the goals of the Town
  • Act as an ambassador for the Community and Protective Services department and the Town of Strathmore
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Sense of initiative, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities while respecting deadlines

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year experience with scheduling or booking, preferably in a recreation/fitness environment
  • Relative volunteer experience in a sports or fitness setting
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a customer service related field
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a supervisory or leadership role

Education:

  • A university degree or diploma in Sports Management, Business Administration, Physical Education, Kinesiology or related field

Requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Valid First aid and CPR certificate
  • Current group fitness certification in good standing with Canfitpro, AFLCA, or equivalent would be considered an asset
  • Consent to disclosure of a Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector

The Town of Strathmore has implemented a Mandatory Vaccination Policy requiring all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. Exemptions are available for those who cannot be fully vaccinated on the basis of a protected legal ground (i.e., medical, religious). The successful candidate will be asked to provide proof of vaccination or request an exemption as part of the recruitment process.

Compensation:

The Town of Strathmore total compensation package includes a competitive salary, a comprehensive benefits package and participation in LAPP pension.
