Job Description

As a Sponsor Support Specialist, you will contribute to the achievement of line of business goals and objectives by providing professional expertise and direction to plan sponsors, intermediaries, consulting actuaries, client auditors and internal partners on reporting of Annual Information Return(AIR), Financial Statement(FS) and other related reports pertaining to registered pension plans (DC, DB, IPP, etc.) and other group savings programs ranging from simple to complex in nature.

You will also provide Total Customer Satisfaction by meeting quality and service standards required to achieve line of business goals, objectives and key results.

KEY RESULTS

  • Provides knowledge and expertise for the preparation of reports required by government authorities and pertaining to registered pension plans (DC, DB, IPP, etc.) and other group savings programs ranging from simple to complex in nature.
  • Processes AIR/FS reports in accordance with the audit & control, legislation and service level agreement requirements applicable to complex plans.
  • Provides the necessary support to plan sponsors, intermediaries, consulting actuaries, client auditors and government authorities on reporting for complex plans.
  • Responds professionally and accurately to requests for information from plan sponsors, intermediaries, consulting actuaries, client auditors, government authorities and internal partners on AIR/FS reports pertaining to registered pension plans (DC, DB, IPP, etc.) and other group savings programs ranging from simple to complex in nature.
  • Performs a thorough analysis of the data that support the preparation of AIR/FS reports for complex plans.
  • Ensures that the needs of our clients’ auditors are clearly understood and met in a timely manner.
  • Enhances knowledge and expertise, keeping up to date on legislation, business practices, compliance and administration issues related to registered pension plans (DC, DB, IPP, etc.) and other group savings programs.
  • Provides support in the coordination of daily workflow and priorities.
  • Participates in process improvement activities and departmental initiatives designed to achieve a higher service level, increase cost efficiencies and productivity (as required).
  • Identifies and reports weaknesses, and applies financial and operational controls to mitigate risks. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

REQUIREMENTS

  • University education in Administration, Finance, Accounting or Actuarial Science, or equivalent experience in the industry.
  • Industry-related courses (LOMA or CEBS).

COMPETENCIES

  • Bilingual (French/English) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the administration of registered pension plans (DC, DB, IPP, etc.) and other group savings programs.
  • Strong knowledge of reporting requirements (AIR/FS) prescribed by government authorities.
  • Strong knowledge of our clients’ auditors’ reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in Group Savings and Retirement applications and systems (i.e. SLX and/or MPS).
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (mainly Word and Excel).
  • Analytical thinker.
  • Strong financial accounting and investment skills.
  • Capacity to communicate complex concepts in layman’s terms to clients and/or auditors.

RÉSULTATS CLÉS

  • Fournir ses connaissances et son savoir-faire aux fins de préparation des rapports exigés par les autorités gouvernementales en ce qui concerne les régimes de retraite agréés (CD, PD, RRI, etc.) et les autres régimes d’épargne collectifs de nature simple à complexe.
  • Traiter les DAR et les EF conformément aux normes de vérification et de contrôle, à la législation et aux ententes sur les niveaux de service s’appliquant aux régimes complexes.
  • Fournir aux responsables de régimes, aux intermédiaires, aux actuaires-conseils, aux vérificateurs des clients et aux autorités gouvernementales le soutien requis relativement à la communication de rapports pour les régimes de nature complexe.
  • Donner suite avec compétence et exactitude aux demandes de renseignements des responsables de régimes, des intermédiaires, des actuaires-conseils, des vérificateurs des clients, des autorités gouvernementales et des partenaires internes quant aux DAR et aux EF des régimes de retraite agréés (CD, PD, RRI, etc.) et des autres régimes d’épargne collectifs simples à complexes.
  • Effectuer une analyse approfondie des données sur lesquelles repose la préparation des DAR et des EF des régimes complexes.
  • Veiller à ce que les besoins des vérificateurs de nos clients soient clairement compris et qu’ils soient satisfaits en temps opportun.
  • Perfectionner ses connaissances et son savoir-faire en se tenant au courant des questions relatives à la législation, aux pratiques commerciales, à la conformité et à l’administration qui touchent les régimes de retraite agréés (CD, PD, RRI, etc.) et les autres régimes d’épargne collectifs.
  • Contribuer à la coordination des priorités et du déroulement du travail quotidien.
  • Participer à diverses activités d’amélioration des processus et activités du service visant à rehausser le niveau de service et à augmenter la rentabilité et la productivité (au besoin).
  • Identifier et signaler les lacunes et appliquer des contrôles financiers et opérationnels destinés à atténuer les risques. Voir à ce que les exigences réglementaires et les principes directeurs de la Compagnie soient respectés

EXIGENCES

  • Études universitaires en administration, en finance, en comptabilité ou en science actuarielle, ou expérience professionnelle équivalente dans l’industrie.
  • Cours complémentaires de l’industrie (LOMA ou CEBS).

COMPÉTENCES FONDAMENTALES ET COMPÉTENCES SPÉCIFIQUES

  • Bilinguism (français/anglais) est un atout.
