Your Challenge

We are seeking a talented "Senior Sustainability Consultant" in our Brampton, Ontario office.



Your Responsibilities

Coordination during Planning & Design phase

  • Participate in discussion with the Client and design team to establish and prepare sustainability goals and targets.
  • Review municipal requirements, as they relate to sustainability, and provide recommendations to achieve targeted certifications
  • Collaborate with the design team to analyze and identify the recommended strategies for achieving the sustainability target level
  • Review the requirements and prepare a list of deliverables in coordination with the Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical (ASME) design team, and for compliance with project design and specifications,
  • Facilitate the registration of buildings with the certifying organizations.
  • Conduct two-stage plan review to ensure design documents meet the requirements for achieving targeted certifications.
  • Monitor and track the design managers’ deliverables
  • Conduct a feasibility study for proposed strategies to improve sustainability goals and targets and update the scorecard during the project life

Coordination During Construction Phase

  • Coordinate the implementation of recommended sustainability measures with construction managers during the construction phase
  • Coordinate and prepare the narratives and documentation required to earn the targeted credits.
  • Conduct periodic visits during construction to review and ensure that contractor is meeting the minimum requirement for targeted certifications.
  • Coordinate and process payment for Certification Application fees.
  • Submit the final design and construction files to certifying authority.


The Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Engineering or Civil Engineering.
  • Master’s degree preferably specialized in Sustainability, Building Science, Architectural Science or other relevant discipline is an asset.
  • 8+ years of previous experience in coordinating projects targeting and achieving sustainability certifications
  • Demonstrates a passion for building sciences, sustainability and green building design and construction.
  • LEED AP and LEED BD+C for new buildings are a must
  • LEED O+M designations would be an asset
  • Knowledge of energy-efficient building design, energy management and incentive programs, an understanding of building envelope as well as HVAC and lighting systems
  • Knowledge of green building standards and sustainability certifications such as LEED, BOMA, Green Globes, Passive House, Net Zero, WELL
  • Knowledge of National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings (NECB), ASHRAE 90.1 and Toronto Green Standards (TGS)
  • Exceptional time-management and organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic is required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required; presentation skills are an asset.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD, is required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with a strong customer service commitment
  • Strong relationship/interpersonal skills required.
  • Strong at multi-tasking, organized, and adaptable to shifting priorities.
  • Personal commitment to promoting green issues or sustainability required.
  • Valid driver’s license. Access to a vehicle is an asset.
