What you will be doing at Pinchin

  • Perform on-site oversight reviews and air monitoring during asbestos and mould abatement projects
  • Conduct comprehensive building assessments for hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead, PCBs, etc. for building renovation, demolition or management purposes
  • Investigate sources of water damage and mould growth through visual assessment, intrusive investigation and air and surface sampling
  • Assess indoor air quality by evaluation of airborne contaminants
  • Prepare assessment reports detailing methodologies, findings, conclusions and recommendations concerning the management, control and removal of hazardous materials
  • Liaise with contractors, clients, property owners, regulatory agencies and other multidisciplinary teams to build and maintain positive relationships
  • Identify and develop new client relationships
  • Assist in preparation of proposals and budgets for hazardous materials consulting work
  • Coordinate and supervise hazardous materials abatement projects.
  • Collect and analyze asbestos air samples via Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) and interpret sample results in relation to legislative requirements
  • Use and calibrate microscopes and field monitoring equipment
  • Coordinate and provide regular project status updates to team members, management and clients

What you bring to the Pinchin team

  • A diploma or degree in or related to Construction Technology or Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering, Science or Applied Science
  • 2-3 years of practical experience in the field of hazardous materials (asbestos, mould, lead, silica, mercury, PCBs, etc.)
  • Experience with building construction or maintenance an asset
  • A related certificate or license (e.g., C.E.T.) an asset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Valid driver’s license, sufficient insurance, and access to a vehicle required
  • High attention to detail; the ability to write, review, and edit reports and other written communications
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
