FORT MCMURRAY

WSP is currently seeking a motivated Senior Municipal Engineer in our Fort McMurray office. The successful candidate should have a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in municipal engineering, including project management, engineering design, transportation systems, utility master planning, and asset management planning of municipal water, wastewater and stormwater utilities. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong leadership and capability to assume or grow into an office management role

Responsibilities
  • Take a leadership role in the expansion of business opportunities and the execution of municipal transportation and infrastructure projects;
  • Manage and deliver transportation and infrastructure design and asset management solutions to customers - this includes report and proposal writing, business development, client liaison, and project management;
  • Build, lead, and manage multi-disciplinary project teams focused on client specified requirements - projects may include planning, engineering design, construction, and financial management deliverables;
  • Lead, develop and empower a diverse group of professionals and technical support staff; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree in Engineering with 10+ years of consulting, municipal or utility service experience;
  • Experience managing and mentoring technical staff would be an asset;
  • A professional engineer or eligibility for registration with APEGA is required;
  • Ability to work independently and mentor junior staff;
  • Previous success in customer service, client management, and proposal/report writing;
  • Knowledge of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) would be an asset;
  • Experience and training in Project Management;
  • Municipal engineering design and construction experience is essential with specific experience related to transportation, water, sanitary, and stormwater projects involving both renewal and replacement and new capital works projects including water and sewerage pumping stations and general civil works; and
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Technical writing skills needed to support the development of technical reports, tools, support documents, and training materials.
