About the Opportunity


Reporting to the Zone People Services Director and working closely with the zone Employee and Labour Relations manager the Senior HR Consultant provides strategic human resources leadership by providing day to day coaching and support to Human Resource Consultants (HRC’s) and leading by example.

The Senior HR Consultant plays a key role in operational service delivery by providing direction to the Human Resources Consultants (HRCs) and other members of the People Services Department on resolving complex issues and ensuring that they have the information and tools required to provide responsive, accurate, and consistent services. The Senior HR Consultant is responsible for developing policies, processes, and programs that promote service excellence and comply with the organization’s collective agreements, employment guides and human rights and employment legislation.

They are accountable to research and deliver innovative human resources solutions that are aligned with the client’s business objectives and consistent with relevant policies, collective agreement language, legislation and the vision, mission, values and culture of NSHA. Collaborating with various partners on the People Services team is integral to the support of the human resources service delivery model.

The Senior HR Consultant also works in close collaboration with the Zone Manager of Labour Relations on complex labour relations issues and matters of provincial scope in order to support consistency in practices across NSHA.

This position will be lead HR requirements for the Eastern Zone Redevelopment Team.


About You


We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Graduate of post-secondary degree/program in Human Resources or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience providing human resource services within a complex unionized environment
  • Knowledge of all aspects of human resources, preferably within the health sector
  • Demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of labour trends and legislation
  • Experience in mediation and conflict resolution
  • Experience interpreting collective agreements and policies
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and decision-skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships
  • High level of competence in both written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), problem solving and decision making skills
  • Excellent consultative, influencing and coaching skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours


  • Long Assignment, Full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
  • Hours of work: 08:30 - 16:30
  • Approximately 5-year term


Compensation and Incentives


$40.27 - $50.34 Hourly
