YOUR CONTRIBUTION:
We’re seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst to join SOCAN’s Finance team. As the Sr. Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for budget preparation, monthly and quarterly forecasting, financial modeling, revenue analyses, and variance analyses. CORPORATE
  • Budgeting and forecasting – recommend new methods and procedures to improve process and accuracy including trending
  • Assist on strategic planning, modeling, and preparation of presentations to board and senior leadership
  • Review budgets for reasonability, accuracy, and justifiable assumptions
  • Prepare detailed and high-level variance reports and analysis on the budget
  • Assist in the preparation of SOCAN’s annual budget and quarterly forecasts and
  • management reports
  • Assist in the development and preparation of the annual budget for all areas of revenue
  • and undertake all necessary research and prepare supporting documentation and
  • training where necessary
  • Provide analytical support to SOCAN Group of companies on business results and achieving financial targets (e.g. tracking Risks & Opps, Action Plans, etc.)
  • Analytical support to Finance team and all Finance functions (i.e., Accounting and Tax)
  • Significant ad hoc opportunities for leadership and analytics.
BUSINESS SUPPORT
  • Working directly with department managers to develop their monthly and quarterly
  • forecasts using TM1 software
  • Closely work with the Licensing Management to prepare revenue forecasts and variance
  • analysis on all tariffs on a monthly/quarterly basis
  • Business analysis on tariff revenue streams
  • Provide financial support in the tariff development and modification areas
  • Build robust and flexible forecasting models to cope with a fast-moving environment.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • CPA (qualified or in the final stages of qualifying)
  • Technical knowledge in Financial Accounting Standards
  • Experience with Epicor ERP system
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
  • Team player with strong interpersonal, team building, and coaching skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of management in developing their forecasts and financial
  • models
  • Ability to identify trends and anomalies in large data sets
  • Knowledge of the Music Industry and analyzing media and music publishing royalties,
  • including catalog valuations is an asset
  • Strong software application skills inclusive of Microsoft Excel, ERP Systems (Epicor preferred)
  • Business Intelligence tools (MicroStrategy, EPM) and analytics (e.g., Google Analytics, etc.).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting/Financial Administration
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a financial analyst role.

WORKWEEK
  • 35-hour work week over 5 days
  • Summer Hours - possibility of a 4-day work week from May-August.
