This position is based at our Calgary, AB office.Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:Supporting multiple business units and executive leadership in making strategic decisionsPerforming a range of cost account and project accounting tasks, including calculating the percentage of completion and revenue recognitionReviewing and investigating discrepancies, and correcting transactions as neededAssisting with the annual budgetPreparing accurate and high-quality monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external investor reportsPreparing the quarterly management discussion and analysisReviewing information for accuracy, including but not limited to tying information to backups and checking for arithmetical accuracyCompiling and analyzing financial information for business units and performing variance analysis for the monthly reporting packagePreparing year-end working papers and schedules for the annual financial auditCalculating complex financial entries, including asset retirement obligations, depletion, and foreign exchangeIdentifying opportunities to automate, streamline, and further develop reporting processesResearching and resolving accounting issues, including evaluating and implementing new accounting standards to ensure complianceProviding support, coordination, addressing and responding to queries from auditors and internal reviewers, while taking ownership of issues and ensuring a timely and successful resolutionBuilding and maintaining analysis, models, or dashboards to support sales forecasting, economic optimization, process optimization, and performance management processesPursuing process improvement, developing process maps and instructional documentationAbout YouTo qualify ideally, you must have a Bachelor degree in Finance or Accounting and 5+ years experience as Financial Analyst. A Designated CPA or equivalent certification would be considered an asset.The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:Ability to analyze data and communicate the results to different stakeholder groupsIntermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skillsKnowledge of QuickBooksStrong written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlinesStrong analytical skills, business intuition, and ability to build consensus across different business functions and stakeholdersLastly, you will join us as a self-starter with a positive, solution-oriented, and growth-focused mindset, and the commitment to work with a team.
