About the Team

The Finance team provides expert financial advice and services in all accounting and financial matters to the organization. We celebrate excellence as we support over 11 ministries and other operations departments within P2C. The finance team ensures that proper accountability, financial integrity, resources optimization, internal controls and compliance have been achieved all the time across the organization.

We are also a collaborative, caring, celebratory and supporting team.

About the Role

The Senior Accountant reports to the Financial Controller. This position is responsible to ensure proper financial reporting and analysis, annual budgeting, reconciliation, internal control and collaborating with other Finance team members, ministries leaders and other departments within the organization.

This role will be accountable to achieve the following outcomes:

• Prepare accurate, timely monthly financial statements in accordance with the Canadian Accounting Standards for not-for-profit organizations.
• Preparation of the organization’s annual operating budget and forecasts
• Review and approve bank transactions EFT, wires and internal transfers.
• Review and approve account payable batches
• Review and post month-end payroll batches
• Review and post P2C Stores month-end entries
• Ensure that all inter-company transactions are properly accounted for.
• Accurate and complete ledgers are reconciled monthly and quarterly
• Assist with External Audit planning and preparation
• Month-end and year-end closing reports are completed
• Supervision of junior accountant staff
• Collaboration and support for all the departmental leaders and directors
• Other support duties as assigned by the Financial Controller

Education and Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Completion of undergraduate degree majoring in Accounting or working towards an Accounting designation - CPA
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP or similar program is considered an asset
• Advance to intermediate skills with Google spreadsheet and Excel.
