About the Role

As a Risk & Control Manager, you’ll provide risk and control oversight across Drax’s Pellets operations in North America (US & Canada). You’ll advise, co-ordinate and report on the risk management activities including the maintenance of a Pellets risk register. You’ll challenge the completeness and accuracy of data within the risk register to ensure the resulting analysis of changes in the business’ risks is robust and representative. This will drive the commercial and financial understanding of risks within the business and help to ensure that they are being managed appropriately by the ultimate risk owners. You will also undertake the role of secretary of the Pellets Risk Management Committee.

Additionally, you’ll design and embed a robust framework of key financial controls across Drax’s Pellets operations and ensure all activities conducted are compliant with external statutory & regulatory requirements and internal organisational policies.

As a part of this role, you’ll also facilitate the planned migration from Netsuite and Azzier to Microsoft D365 ensuring the design and implementation of automated key financial controls.

Collaboration will be critical to succeeding in this role, and you’ll work with a range of stakeholders across the group, including risk owners and managers, the Executive VP, the VP of Finance, Director of Finance and Group Head of Financial Control.

This role requires regular travel between our sites in the United States and Canada. However, we are deeply committed to ensuring you have the flexibility you need to do your best work, whether that’s at home or in an office.

About You

As an ideal candidate you’ll have a university degree with specialised qualification in accountancy or risk. You’ll have working knowledge and extensive experience in assessment of policies and standards, risk scoring, assessment of the design and operating effectiveness of mitigating controls and recommending improvements to control design.

You’ll have specific experience in internal controls, internal audit and /or risk related roles.

In addition to your technical know how, your communication, project management skills and stakeholder relationship management would help you succeed in this role.
