Your Opportunity:

This community respiratory therapy position presents the opportunity to work with clients for cardiac and respiratory diagnostic testing, disease process education, blood gas procurement for home oxygen funding as well as some acute care exposure within the Taber Health Center. This position also covers other rural sites including but not limited to Milk River, Coaldale and Picture Butte. This is an established role and is well supported by the community therapist team, professional practice lead and manager.

Description:

As a Respiratory Therapist II, you will coordinate, monitor and assess clinical services in your assigned area. You will act as a clinical resource for daily operations, coordinating the work of therapy assessment and treatment in your service area, and assist in the development of clinical protocols. You will develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor the progress of patients (clients, residents) receiving advanced respiratory treatment. You will identify new equipment requirements, and establish and maintain adequate levels of supplies and materials for your area. You will be responsible for respiratory equipment, including but not limited to operation, procurement, maintenance, and quality assurance. You will participate in interprofessional patient, client or resident rounds, conferences and meetings where applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years’ experience as a respiratory therapist. BLS for HCP. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Ability and willingness to travel between sites. Strong patient assessment skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience with community respiratory. Demonstrated ability to manage time and workload. Strong interpersonal communication skills. Certified Respiratory Educator. ABG certification, experience with spirometry testing, AADL home oxygen working knowledge.
