THE ROLE: R&D GROWER

The Grower will work closely with the management team to monitor and maintain crop health of various types, R&D crops and aid in plant trials. They will be responsible for tracking crop metrics, performance and optimal harvest timing via experimental design, visual evaluation, and data analysis. The grower will further innovation through aid in design and execution on agricultural research and development efforts. This role has endless room for growth for candidates who are able to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing, revolutionized industry.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Horticulture/Agriculture/Botany/Agronomy, or other relevant field required.
• Minimum 2-5 years of experience working in a similar role required.
• Experience working in either the agriculture, indoor vertical farming, or high-technology industry is preferred.
  

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:

• Capable of physical tasks for crop related trials and production
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift approximately 25 lbs. of weight
• Capable of troubleshooting basic farm equipment and resolving minor issues.
• Must be able to work well with others in a team environment
• Ability to pay attention to detail and ensure all tasks are completed correctly
• Experience working in indoor agriculture is an asset
• Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills, and organizational ability required
• Must be able to work-independently and be a self-starter
• Must have a valid driver’s license, vehicle, and be willing to travel periodically to complete tasks
• Data, computer, and technical writing skills required
• Ability to deal with moderate levels of stress is required
• Experience working with supplementary lighting, plant nutrition and climate control systems is an asset
• Results-oriented individual with the ability to interpret and effectively manage multiple and competing priorities and timelines.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise necessary cost control measures.
• Knowledge of GMP an asset.
• Work early morning, afternoon, and weekend shifts as required.
  

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Use CubicFarm technology to grow amazing crops and cultivate product from seed to store shelf.
• Monitor, operate, and report on farming operations.
• Assist with propagation, seeding, plant movement, spacing, and irrigation of plants under controlled climate.
• Complete daily key operational checklists, including nutrition and fertilizer checks.
• Collect data to create standard growing formulas for CubicFarm Systems Corp.
• Evaluate new potential processes/products to increase revenue or save operating costs.
• Confidently operate CubicFarm Machinery
• Follow and adhere to all given instructions including work procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
• Respect very tight development periods to reach substantial results in a limited timeframe, due to the start-up nature of the company.
• Work with the engineering team regarding machine R&D and maintenance, observation and controls.
• Participate in cultivar research and new crop development.
• Participate in growing activities throughout lifecycle
• Participate in project teams to produce deliverables according to specification.
• Responsible for conducting pre-operational checks on equipment
• Monitor the machine operation and perform in-process check, making adjustments as necessary
• Research of tools and inputs that can bring value to farmers at reasonable costs and identification of suppliers.
• Conduct experimental projects in crop development and introduction of new practices
• Ensure all safety policies and strict crop hygiene practices are followed.
