This is a full-time position that will commence as soon as possible. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Conduct of assigned field research trials to evaluate the efficacy and crop safety of pesticides (herbicides, insecticides and fungicides), nutrients, inoculants, biologicals, and other crop inputs. Layout, planting, maintenance and harvest of small plot research trials. Interaction with grower-cooperators required to locate experimental sites.Test item calculations and application, sample collection (crop/soil), trial documentation and equipment operation as per Standard Operating Procedures, subjective and objective assessments, data collection and statistical analysis.Interpreting and meeting protocols, frequent communication of project status to clients and final report completion and submission. Supervise, train, coach and collaborate with two season Research Technicians that support your program.

Qualifications:

Minimum B.Sc. or Diploma in agriculture or equivalent education and experience is required.
Ideal applicants will have previous research experience in agriculture or an environment-related discipline. Previous summer employment experience in field research and field trial design would be highly valued. Experience in operation of seeding, spraying and harvesting equipment and maintenance will be an asset. Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge and experience in Canadian agriculture. The successful applicant must be willing to travel periodically and complete tasks requiring extended work hours when necessary. Computer literacy using an IBM-compatible PC in a Windows environment is required. Experience with Excel and Word are required, experience with ARM software would be considered an asset. A valid driver’s license is required. Experience with towing a 20 ft equipment trailer or similar would be considered an asset.
