WAGE: $26.84 per/hr + benefits and pension

HRS OF WORK: 37.5hrs/week; Monday to Friday – 8:00am – 4:30pm

(A trial period with hours of 9:00am – 5:30pm will be occurring)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Town of Taber Aquafun Centre is currently recruiting an individual to fill a full-time position. The ideal candidate for this position would perform reception, sales, accounting, and office administration duties supporting the Recreation department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Liaises with supervisor regarding matters that include priority of projects, cashier shift schedule and procedures.
  • Greets customers, receives telephone inquiries and electronic messages. Determines purpose of the inquiry; provides or obtains the necessary information or refers to appropriate personnel.
  • Operates, maintains and manages the recreation software program.
  • Processes facility bookings such as meeting rooms, pool, arenas, sports fields and auditorium.
  • Processes program registrations such as swim lessons, private lessons, summer programs and special events. Receives and processes payments for admissions, lessons, facility rental bookings, program registrations, and resale items.
  • Reviews daily receipts and ensures bank deposit is accurate. Exports data from the Recreation Financial system to the Town of Taber’s financial system daily. Monitors and administers petty cash and cash floats.
  • Maintains account receivable records, processes adjustments, invoices, penalties and account statements, adjusts and balances accounts. Reconciles general ledgers monthly such as accounts receivable. Conducts accounts receivable collection including contact with customers who have outstanding account balances.
  • Coordinates and assigns work to cashiers, monitors progress of assignments and drafts shift schedules for Supervisor’s approval. Provides instruction, mentorship and support to cashiers. Assists with interviews, orientation and training of cashier personnel.
  • Arranges meetings, compiles and distributes agendas for groups including user groups, Recreation Board and monthly staff meetings.
  • Assists with transcribing minutes of meetings.
  • Reviews, maintains and files documents such as financial records, statistics, reports, checklists and procedure manuals for cashiers. Processes and distributes incoming mail for the facility.
  • Prepares correspondence, posters, newsletter articles and brochures. Arranges advertising of programs and events in various media including assisting with the maintenance of website for Recreation functions.
  • Responds to emergency situations such as injuries, power failures or fire by coordinating evacuation of facility, calling 911 and providing first aid.
  • Participates in annual aquatic centre cleaning, maintenance and repairs.
  • Participates in workplace health and safety program, including monthly worksite and hazard inspections.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by the Assistant Recreation Manager such as health and safety program duties, janitorial tasks, monitoring & enforcing facility guidelines and assists in organizing events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 education
  • Two years’ cash handling experience
  • Basic accounting course, preferably with Business Administration Diploma
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Standard First Aid/CPR/AED Level C
  • Ability to provide a clean Police Information Check
