Your Opportunity:

This position is responsible for assisting in managing ERC’s operational quality systems, including performing practical quality control and environmental monitoring, writing SOPs, reviewing SOPs and batch records as well as performing data capture and analysis. This position will typically work the early morning shift from 4:30AM-12:45PM. When required, the position will also be responsible for the technical and clerical procedures involved in the production, formulation, dispensing, and distribution of radiopharmaceuticals prepared at the Edmonton Radiopharmaceutical Centre. Responsibilities Include: Quality Control. Perform Quality Control testing on products purchased, prepared or manufactured by ERC. Perform data compilation and analysis/interpretation as per SOPs. Perform environmental monitoring and general lab upkeep as mandated by GMP regulations. Perform calibrations, qualifications, preventive maintenance and repair of Quality Control-related equipment as per SOPs. Documentation Management. Write and/or review Standard Operating Procedures. Assess and file Batch Records and other Record Forms. Keep records of meetings and training sessions. Assist in the completion of regulatory filings such as Clinical Trial Applications. Contribute to the development of organizational tools for research, regulatory and administrative purposes. Radiopharmaceutical Preparation. Prepare and dispense radiopharmaceuticals from commercial kit products or raw materials. Assist in radiation and workplace health and safety procedures Assist in delivery of radiopharmaceuticals to Nuclear Medicine departments. Assist in the development of new radiopharmaceutical techniques and procedures. Assist in maintaining supply inventory. Two full time positions are available.

Description:

As a Radiopharmacy Specialist, you will prepare and dispense radiopharmaceuticals from both commercial kits and raw materials. You will assist in the use and maintenance of scientific equipment and instrumentation, radiation and workplace health and safety procedures, develop and write Standard Operating Procedures, check supply inventory, prepare and dispense radiopharmaceutical kit production and assist in the packaging and transportation of radiopharmaceuticals.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited program in Nuclear Medicine Technology, or Chemical Technology, or a health sciences degree from a recognized institution. Possession of a valid driver’s licence. Must be capable of manipulating and carrying moderately heavy (up to 22 kg) lead and other radioactive shielding and shipping containers.

Additional Required Qualifications:

A BSc in chemistry, pharmacy, or physical sciences or a technical diploma in a relevant scientific discipline or other equivalent training or experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with quality control testing of radiopharmaceutical products and related starting or intermediate products. Experience with: TLC, HPLC, and GC. Must be self-directed with the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team environment. Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, planning and interpersonal skills are required. Good Manufacturing Practice experience. Expertise with Microsoft office and radiopharmacy management systems.
