Position Overview

The Purchaser position is responsible for buying materials, supplies, and services within the quality, quantity, and price guidelines set up by management. This position will follow the purchasing process to obtain the required materials, parts, and miscellaneous shop items in a timely manner. This includes the quoting process for competitive bids so that the company receives the best value for what it spends. The incumbent will be responsible to purchase all required items from approved vendors which meets the engineering standards and quality requirements of the company.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Purchase raw materials, receive raw material, and enter raw materials into ERP system.
• Make sure materials are purchased to engineered specifications and that vendors have those specifications before quoting stage.
• Pre-approve incoming material certificates for compliance against Engineering Standards.
• Work with vendors and Director on long term material planning.
• Work with vendors and Director on long lead item parts ensuring that stock levels and scheduled replenishments are in line with company goals.
• Purchase consumable items for the shop such as safety gear, day to day consumable items not for machining.
• Issue PO’s to get tools calibrated based on the information provided by Director, QHSE at an approved third-party vendor.
• Follow engineering and quality procedures/specifications.
• Review PO suggestions to ensure we have proper inventory.
• Proactively identify shortages and deal with issues before they affect commitments to customers.
• Review vendor performance with Directors to maintain and update the approved supplier list.
• Help set inventory levels on purchased items; including min/max levels.
• Issue material to jobs; making sure material called out is the right type and amount.
• Verifying the invoiced amount with finance to resolve any issues.
• Any other duties as directed by the Director, Production.
  

Qualification Requirements: (Minimum Education and Experience)

• Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance or related field with a background in Procurement
• 3-5 years’ of supply chain experience in Oil and Gas manufacturing industry.
• A professional procurement or purchasing designation (SCMP or PMAC) is an asset.
• Strong analytical skills, strategic and tactical thinking.
• Strong writing skills for creating reports, correspondence, contracts, requests, bids, and other documentation.
• Strong organizational, time management and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent oral and written communications.
• Proficient knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
• Knowledge of materials considered an asset but not a requirement
  

HSE Requirements: (Training and Physical Demands)

• Must be able to sit, and/or stand for long periods of time.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Training is required.
• Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Training is required.
• HR/HSE Orientation is required
