We have an exciting opportunity for a Professional Engineer for the role of Project Manager to work as part of the project management team for large multi-discipline projects and clients in our Head Office in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Candidates will require knowledge of project management principles and practices in the delivery of multi-discipline study, design, and asset assessment and management projects.


The Project Manager will plan, schedule, assign, supervise and/or conduct broad and/or technically complex engineering assignments requiring sound judgment, independent evaluation, collaborative coordination, and application of codes, standards, and procedures in the execution of their duties. The Project Manager will work as part of a project management team and be mentored in corporate and client practices to progress into a senior, independent role within the project management team.


Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability to internally and externally build and lead project teams for multi-disciplinary engineering and asset management projects;
  • Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop junior team members;
  • Project management and progress reporting to CBCL Management and/or Senior Project Managers;
  • Contribute to corporate project management procedures, design standards, details, master specifications, quality, and other standards and procedures as part of a continuous improvement environment;
  • Ability to conduct greenfield and brownfield assessments to support client planning and preliminary design activities during project development;
  • Prepare and/or review professional reports, and other written project deliverables
  • Project Safety Plan development, implementation, and monitoring, with the support of CBCL safety professionals;
  • Ensure that client expectations and satisfaction are met or exceeded; and the client’s best interests are represented with respect to contractual and technical issues;
  • Prepare professional services estimates, deliverables list, schedules, proposals, and progress reports with the support of other disciplines;
  • Preparation of RFQ and/or RFP documents, evaluation of bid submissions, and client support during tender and construction phase activities;
  • Coordinate and work with project team members in various branch offices or project sites in Canada and abroad; and
  • Assure that projects are executed in a timely fashion, within budget, and in-line with corporate and/or project specific quality and safety objectives.

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada with eligibility for registration with
    Engineers Nova Scotia.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Eight (8) or more years of related engineering experience which includes five (5) or more years of project management experience.
  • Experience in buildings, infrastructure, condition assessment, and asset management projects would be considered an asset. Experience should include both design and implementation perspectives, a key aspect of this position is the evaluation of multi-discipline designs, during development, to ensure implementation is possible and practical.
  • Excellent written and oral skills in the English language. Written and oral skills in other languages, particularly French and Spanish are considered assets.
  • Excellent organization, time management, prioritization, presentation, and facilitation skills;
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Building, Electrical, and Plumbing Codes, CSA, ASME/ASTM, NFPA, and other applicable codes and standards;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, and Project);
