Your Opportunity with Michels Canada

The Project Coordinator is a key role in the starting line up of Michels Canada’s NEWEST division, Michels Canada Power.The Project Coordinator is responsible for working alongside of the Project Manager or Superintendent to ensure that projects are being completed accurately and in a timely manner. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for compliance, contract management, project controls while maintaining high attention to detail. Critical to success are excellent oral and verbal communication skills, and the ability to quickly make decisions.


Your Key Responsibilities


  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
  • Coordinate activities needed to support and administer all phases of contracts and project controls through close-out.
  • Maintain project tracking system and standardize project documents. Generate weekly project calendar and reports.
  • Assist with timecards, daily costs, and trend charts.
  • Assist with progress payment, requests for information (RFI’s) and change orders.
  • Check and prepare invoices for approval; route to Accounts Payable for payment and ensure correct coding and complete required follow up work.
  • Prepare reports for guidance of management.
  • Work with corporate and divisional support on a variety of clerical related tasks.
  • Other duties as required.


Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • University degree or diploma in related field, or 2-4 years of related experience, or equivalent combination.
  • Passion for construction, with previous related industry or trade experience is an asset.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Project Coordinator or Project Assistant with a General Contractor, preferably from the Power Transmission and Distribution sector.
  • Very skillful in building relationships with new or existing clients
  • Exceptional communication skills with the proven ability to deal effectively with members at all levels of the organization internally and externally.
  • Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven and an acceptable driving record as determined by the DOT Operations Director and Michels Legal Department.
  • Proficient computer application skills in estimating or project controls related software (AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Project, MS Office, Primavera P6, TILOS)
  • Comfortable with occasional travel to project sites across Canada as needed
