The Program Director is responsible for recruiting and selecting, supervising, guiding, and developing staff, as well as evaluating their job performance, and dealing with all employee relations and disciplinary issues. The Program Director is responsible for the day to day management of Residential areas, and will report directly to the Executive Director.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

1. HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT:

a. Recruitment, interviewing, and selection of new support staff, including orientation, training, and development in the absence of the Program Director 4 - Scheduling.

b. Identify and recommend training needs of existing support staff, facilitating attendance as appropriate at training as funding allows.

c. Manage the MakeShift scheduling program in the absence of the Program Director 4 - Scheduling.

d. Provision of leadership, direction, guidance, and supervision to all staff.

e. Resolving conflicts and support staff issues, following existing policies.

f. Preparation and distribution of monthly support staff schedule, in accordance with any existing standards in the absence of the Program Director 4 - Scheduling

g. Communicate and interpret policies and procedures to all staff, participating in the review and development of policy/procedures.

h. Schedule, chair, and ensure documentation of regular team/program meetings.

i. Ensure completion and review of job performance evaluations; probationary, annual, and in special circumstances.

j. Provision of progressive discipline where necessary.

k. Identify when professional development is required to successfully perform Program Director duties.

l. Perform weekly janitorial duties as assigned.

2. PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT/MANAGEMENT:

a. Ensure resources are effectively aligned for individuals in receipt of services.

b. Identify areas for program growth.

c. Ensure legislative and legal requirements are met.

d. Promote concepts of inclusion and full community participation.

e. Ensure maintenance of residential buildings/grounds.

f. Upkeep of day to day records, maintaining a filing system for all documents related to program, financial, and staff matters.

g. Participate in formal program evaluations.

h. Address client support and individualized service issues, ensuring completion of assessments.

i. Attend and actively participate in all meetings involving supported individuals, monitoring, the implementation and achievement of goals as per Individual Plan.

j. Maintain regular and effective communication with individuals, families, CSW, and external agencies regarding an individual’s services/supports.

3. FINANCIAL

a. Ensure the Financial Plans are completed and reviewed annually for supported individuals.

b. Oversee support staff in the management of an individual’s personal funds, including but not limited to:

c. Ensuring that expenditures are within the Financial Plan. (withdrawal forms)

d. Monitoring the completion of social allowance reviews and completion of income tax.

e. Auditing the monthly financial records of supported individuals.

f. Submitting required financial records and information to SDM/PT/CSW.

4. AFTER HOURS ON CALL:

a. Participates in the weekly rotation of the 24 hour, 7 days per week On Call service, alternating responsibility for the On Call with the Program Directors and Day Program Coordinator.

b. Receive daily check in from residential staff in locations where there is no staff in place to transfer over responsibility for individual(s).

c. Authorize overtime in case of a staff shortage.

d. Act as a resource to staff in any difficult situation, wherever possible referring them to an appropriate community resource (i.e. TeleHealth, Health Links, 911, panic button, walk in).

e. Ensure staff telephone access to a representative of the Agency in case of an emergency which requires direction or action beyond authority of direct staff.

f. Must be available to provide hands on assistance to the caller if the seriousness of the call warrants.

5. OTHER

a. Any other responsibilities as assigned from time to time by the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

-Emergency First Aid & CPR

-Clear Criminal Record Check

-Clear Vulnerable Person’s Check

-Clear Adult Abuse Registry Check

-Class 5 Driver’s License & Acceptable Driver’s Abstract

-Access to a reliable vehicle

-2 Year Human Resource Management Diploma or education/experience equivalents to.

-Experience in a variety of computer skills including Microsoft and Excel. Experience working with the scheduling program MakeShift would be an asset.

-Ability to build effective working relationships.

-Provide team leadership.

-Ability to think strategically, prioritize, delegate, and communicate with others.

-Respect of supported individuals, employees, and programs.

-Interest in continuing professional growth and willingness to take training related to the position.

-Ability to listen, comprehend, and respond.

-Willingness to function in accordance with established philosophy of the Agency as outlined in the Mission and the Vision.

-Recognition of the importance of confidentiality.
