Fleming and Baron (an ASSA ABLOY company) is a manufacturer of steel doors and frames for the commercial and industrial markets. We are looking to hire a Production Planner for our manufacturing facility based in Woodbridge, Ontario.

In this role, you will create and maintain production work orders and complete planning analysis to determine optimal planning actions to maximize material availability/production completions while ensuring adherence to the production schedule. The Production Planner will work together with the Master Scheduler and other Production Planners to ensure continuous material supply to support customer demands.

WHAT YOU WILL YOU BE DOING:
  • Release manufacturing orders to the shop floor; monitor production schedules and expedite the flow of materials and orders through the shop to ensure ship dates are met, including communicating and facilitating issues
  • Schedule incoming raw materials and assist Purchasing in scheduling outside processes
  • Expedite materials and parts as needed to support ship dates
  • Advise management of problems or concerns relating to conformance to established plans
  • Initiate and/or support Order Change Form requirements and coordinates activity with manufacturing
  • Monitor currently planned order execution via daily review of appropriate reports, and support established ship dates on all customer orders
  • Coordinate contingency plans to achieve delivery promises when important deviations occur, or properly adjust due dates in the system and inform Customer Service of the changes
  • Work as a resource to Customer Service to provide production/shipping dates when requested
  • Monitor actual output versus the Master Production Plan; identify gaps and work on solutions including a metric for production performance to the requested production schedule
  • Daily review and planning of customer demand versus current production schedule and make updates and corrections as required in cooperation with the Master Schedule
  • Fully support and communicate with the Manufacturing team to achieve production schedule
  • Identify potential raw material shortages and escalate it to responsible team members for resolution and change to production schedule
  • Process and schedule into production sample orders (Engineering, Quality, Replacement Part orders)
  • Materials: manage specific production functions including, planning, and work order distribution; work closely with Manufacturing and Engineering departments
  • Production: maintain valid production schedules; expedite production processes in support of the company’s goals and mission; and advise departments in order to most efficiently reach production goals
  • Assist management and supervision in implementing process improvement initiatives
  • Other responsibilities and duties as required

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • Post-Secondary Education in Operations Management or related field
  • 5+ years in a manufacturing environment in a similar role
  • CPIM designation or in pursuit
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Working experience in lean manufacturing techniques and training, Kaizen, process improvement
  • Excellent computer software skills, MS excel, access, project, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience using an ERP as well as manual tracking tools
  • Analytical, able to work with databases and prepare reports
  • Ability to multi-task and handle tasks with competing priorities
  • Possess strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
