Who are we and what do we manufacture?

OWN IT! It’s on the back of all of our shirts. This is because Centra is 100% employee owned. We believe in owning our actions and promises. We manufacture our own high performance vinyl windows in our state of the art manufacturing plant in Langley, B.C (hello, Canadian made!). In spring of 2022 we expanded our manufacturing operations when we acquired Supreme Windows in Calgary, AB. Our vinyl windows are the best in the business with a focus on quality manufacturing and innovated product lines. We also install our own products (no third parties here!), and we are experts in building envelope restorations. We’ve been in business for 38 years so we have had a lot of practice at getting it right.

What’s the role?

This position is responsible for testing and development of Centra products. As our Product Research & Development Engineer you will be hands on leading research and development project execution and managing timelines. You will use your curious mind to innovate and improvise for practical solutions while working with our vendors to understand the limits of products and services so you can design accordingly. This position is key in shaping Centra’s future growth.

Core Accountabilities Include:

• Focus on safety while considering product design, quality and process optimizations
• Design, prototype, and test new products
• Use engineering calculations to ensure safe design and for third party audits
• Balance quality, uniqueness, functionality, and cost-effectiveness when designing product
• Identify items for research and development based on feedback from quality and service teams
• Review purchased parts and final assemblies from concept to production-ready status
• Use diagnostic skills to assess machines
• Liaison with maintenance and train operators when new machinery is purchased

Qualifications:

• Diploma or degree in Machining, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Electrical engineering fields
• Proficient in the use of 2D / 3D CAD software is needed
• High Competence in Microsoft Office (high proficiency in Excel is required)
• Experience working with production machinery and understand the specs
• Experience in window and door product development is desirable
• Understanding of NAFS, ASTM and Building code requirements is bonus
