IshKaabatens Waasa Gaa Inaabateg Department of Visual Art invites applications for a probationary tenure-track position in Art History with a focus on contemporary art and Indigenous visual culture. They will have deep engagement with traditional and contemporary Indigenous art, and a keen interest in engaging Indigenous and non-Indigenous students and community members through artistic initiatives.

Applicants with a PhD or its equivalent are preferred. Alternative academic backgrounds, such as an MA with work experience in exhibition curating, may be considered as equivalent. Applicants are encouraged to contact the department chair (IWGIDVAChair@brandonu.ca) in advance for information on how to establish equivalent credentials. The candidate will have a record of teaching success at the post-secondary level and an active research record in curation and/or publication. Candidates are asked to submit a letter of interest describing all areas of teaching expertise, a current curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching experience (sample course syllabi, course proposals, or summaries of teaching evaluations), a 10 to 30 page published writing sample, and the names and contact information of three references.
