Private Music Instructors, Performing Arts

Medicine Hat College invites applications for Freelance Independent Contractors to provide private performing arts instructional services to learners of the MHC. We are seeking instructors in percussion, strings, and ukulele as a priority and are open to other performance art subject areas. These freelance positions report to the Program Manager, Extended Learning.

A little about the role:

The MHC Conservatory is a performing arts school. Based in the Medicine Hat Cultural Centre our instructors provide 1-1 private and group lessons to students of various ages and skill levels.

As a successful applicant you will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline; Master’s degree is an asset.
• Prior experience as a professional musician or teacher is an asset.
• Experience working with children is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of classical and contemporary styles is appreciated.
• Ability to communicate effectively and timely with students, families, and department staff.
• Basic administrative skills and business acumen.

Term of Agreement: September 30, 2023 – June 30, 2024

Hours of work: Flexible Schedule; typically, afternoons and evenings
