Position Overview

and we’re looking for a Pre-Inspector to help us get there!

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Field Records Inspector (Pre-Inspector) will be responsible for accurately locating underground Gas facilities and ensuring compliance with regulations and documentation procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Locate underground Gas facilities accurately using utility mapping software and electronic locating equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with Enbridge regulations.
  • Understand, prioritize, and respond to work requests dispatched by office.
  • Understand and manipulate utility records (review identify and interpret).
  • Review and interpret schematics/blueprints/composites.
  • Effectively identify and document utility location and follow proper documentation procedures.
  • Identify potential safety concerns for installation crews and public.
  • Ensure operational deadlines are met.
  • Manage large volume of work in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Operate and maintain company equipment and vehicle in good order.
  • Complete audits/verification of field records and installations.
  • Perform locate verification for crews.
  • Perform Private locates of various facilities.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Repetitive movement (data entry).
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prolonged sedentary positioning.
  • Travel to site locations will be required.
  • Working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to carry up to 40lbs.

Required Knowledge And Experience.
  • Graduate from the Civil Engineering/ Technologist / Construction Management programs.
  • Experience in the construction industry and/or utility locates is a strong asset.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
  • Capable of reading and understanding construction drawings and documents.
  • Advanced computer skills – MS Office suite (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook).
  • Ability to learn job specific software.
  • Conform and embrace AECON safety policies and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills – oral and written.
  • Self-motivated with good organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with others as a team and interact with builders, homeowners, and utility representative in a professional manner.
  • Ability to carry up to 40lbs.
  • DPT 200 is an asset.
  • Valid Ontario (G) driver’s license with a clean driving record and access to own vehicle.
