THE POSITION
Keyera is currently seeking a Plant Operator for our Wapiti Gas Plant near Grande Prairie, Alberta. This dynamic, exciting role will support the day to day operations of the facility, troubleshooting, optimization and tuning of the plant’s processes.
The Plant Operator will work a 2 week on and 2 week off rotation, with onsite camp accommodations provided. This role requires the candidate to wear respiratory protective equipment. As per Alberta OHS 250(2), the candidate must ensure an adequate seal where the face piece of the equipment seals to the skin of the face.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with daily operations of the Wapiti Gas Plant.
  • Responsible for daily operating assignments on plant equipment and processes.
  • Operate the facility in a safe, economical and efficient manner using quality principals.
  • Work with team on preventative maintenance and ensure equipment is running efficiently and safely.
  • Monitor facility readings, product sampling and quality control.
  • Assist with contractor, driver orientation and supervision for on-site operations.
  • Help mentor, grow and support junior operations team members
  • Participate in review, modification or development of facility procedures.
  • Support engineering and maintenance teams with various projects.

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will be well-organized, energetic, and service oriented with the following qualifications:
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a similar role within gas plant operations. Previous Sour Gas processing experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Diploma or Certificate in Power Engineering.
  • Ability to provide a 5-year standard driver abstract with zero demerit points (clean driver’s abstract).
  • Fourth Class inter-provincial steam ticket is preferred as a minimum.
  • You have a strong commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment.
  • You have a strong work ethic with a desire to learn and grow
  • You demonstrate diligence in following process and procedures.
  • You follow through on commitments as an engaged contributor.
  • You actively guard against complacency and challenge the status quo.
  • You’re a strong team player with the ability to listen, learn and share knowledge.
  • You understand the value of a positive, supportive team working environment.
  • You’re a self-starter who is able to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
  • You possess proven communication, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • You’re highly organized, reliable individual with attention to detail.
  • Valid H2S Alive, WHMIS, TDG and First Aid Certificates would be an asset.
  • At the sole discretion of management, other combinations of directly relevant experience and educational credentials will be considered.
