RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Controller and a dotted line to the CFO, and overseeing a Payroll Clerk, your duties and responsibilities will include;

• Receive and review timesheets for up to 300 employees and ensure the hours are captured by the employee and allocated to the appropriate project, that overtime is calculated properly based on applicable overtime policy for that project or location. Provide a detailed summary, by employee, project, and regular time vs overtime to management for review and submit information to external payroll provider for processing on a weekly and bi-weekly basis

• Government (CPP, EI, WSIB etc.) and Union remittances calculation and submissions, and if applicable any garnishments are captured and remitted on a timely basis

• Track Employee attendance in accordance with company policy

• Ensure all New Employee or Changes to Employment are tracked and approved by the applicable supervisor

• Ensure employment files are complete with all required documentation

• Process ROEs as required

• Complete government reporting (T4s, T4As, US 941 & 940, W-2

• Ensure all eligible employees are enrolled in the appropriate benefits program and receive the required handbook materials

• Enroll eligible employees into the company pension plan and ensure appropriate remittances and annual filings are completed (with the assistance of Controller and/or CFO)

• Other payroll and benefit duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

• A minimum of 5 years experience in payroll & benefits administration

• Knowledge of Ontario Employment Standards Act

• Experience with US payroll desired

• PCP or CPM certification preferred

• Union payroll experience desired

• Previous experience/involvement with automation of payroll time capturing solution would be considered a major asset

• Experience with Jonas payroll or a similar ERP payroll system
