Shannex is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Administratorto join their team based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Reporting to the Manager, Compensation and Benefits, the successful candidate will be responsible for the administration of payroll and benefits transactions related to the lifecycle events of an employee. The Administrator works closely with the Payroll and Benefits Coordinators and the established deadlines of the pay cycle and often coordinates with facility designates or human resources to resolve issues and questions. The Administrator is also responsible for answering questions and communicating directly with employees as required.

Who You Are…

As the successful candidate, you have completed your diploma or degree in a related field of study and have 1-2 years of administrative experience in a related field (payroll, benefits, human resources, or finance). Designation in or working towards your Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) is considered a strong asset. You have strong communication skills both written and verbal and thrive in solving problems/troubleshooting. You are dependable and deliver high quality, professional service with a positive attitude. You are detail oriented and consistently display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently. You work efficiently both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team to achieve desired results.

How you will do it…

· Completes employee file setups in required systems for all new hires or internal transfers

· Administrates benefit enrollment for all new hires, status changes, transfers, and terminations.

· Completes status change and termination requests, including enrollment or cancellation of benefits as required

· Completes payroll and benefits related transactions within the pay period (wage increment changes, updates to pay file)

· Completes ROEs through established pay process, and when requested.

· Provides customer service support for payroll and benefits inboxes when required

· Updates employee pay and benefits as required due to leaves of absence; follows up with employees when needed.
