Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise, co-ordinate and execute scheduled activities of workers who paint, inspect and assemble products for customers
• Supervise paint production line operation in accordance with plant policies and procedures, and meeting shift production goals
• Train and teach painters in single coat primer painting process, two coat epoxy paint process, clear coat painting processes, and to use paint equipment
• Co-ordinate work activities with other departments
• Assist Production Manager in conducting meetings, or conducts them by himself/herself as required
• Ensure a clean and safe work area, and oversees the safety of all employees
• Responsible for quality control, and reports deficiencies and variations to Production Manager
• Requisition materials and supplies
• Resolve work problems, and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality
• Adheres to the company’s policies and procedures
• Any other reasonable duties as required by management from time to time

Essential Qualifications:

• Completion of Post-Secondary School education or greater required
• 3 + years of experience in Industrial /Automotive painting
• 3 + years of experience in manufacturing environment
• Solid knowledge of paint equipment and experience in two coat epoxy painting
• Ability to understand and follow paint specification, appropriate paint mixture and meeting thickness requirements
• Ability to supervise and manage people in a manufacturing environment
• Excellent problem solving and mathematical skills, with proficiency in recording measurements and thickness
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communications skills (both oral and written)
• Ability to interpret blue prints and shop drawings, and identify part numbers and types of materials
• Knowledge of numerical control equipment
• Knowledge of Health and Safety Policies and WHMIS
• Ability to train and mentor workers on their job duties and responsibilities
• Ability to operate lifting devices (i.e. crane, hoist or forklift – safety certificate)
• Physically fit
