Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC) is a comprehensive community institution, established in 1966 in Grande Prairie, and our stewardship region includes campuses in Fairview and Grande Prairie, as well as learning centres in Edson, Grande Cache, Hinton and Jasper. The Role

The Fine Arts Department is looking for a part-time sessional instructor to instruct Music Technology I remotely for the Fall 2021 term. Part-time sessional appointments are contingent on sufficient enrolment.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements

Candidates must hold a Masters in Recording Engineering, Music Technology or a related field with 5 years of experience teaching undergraduate courses in Music Technology. The candidate must have an excellent grasp of acoustics and psychoacoustics, recording arts, DAWs, sound synthesis, digital signal processing and MIDI arranging. They should also have an excellent knowledge of recording different styles of music including: rock, jazz, folk, classical and electronic music. Theoretical knowledge such as listening aesthetics, electroaccoustic ear training, deep listening or other aesthetic approaches to audio, would be an asset.

Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:

  • knowledge of design and development of undergraduate recording arts courses
  • knowlege of GPRC courses and current educational technologies commonly found in the classroom (e.g., videoconferencing, Moodle);
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
  • student focused;
  • strong organizational skills;
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • ability to build strong relationships across the organization; and
  • a high level of integrity, professionalism and accountability.
