New Afton Mine

Situated 10 kilometers west of picturesque Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton Mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.

Kamloops is a city of 90,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver. The area provides the opportunity to live and work in a vibrant community with its own university and within easy reach of world class ski resorts, championship golf courses, mountain biking trails, popular recreational lakes and award-winning vineyards.

About the Role

Schedule: 7 on, 7 off, 12 hour shift, alternating days and nights.

Position Reports To: Mill Operations Supervisor

Position Overview

Safely operating mill processing circuits to meet production targets.

Key Responsibilities

Operating and monitoring various circuits in the processing plant as required by the supervisor. Circuits include: Control room, Grinding, Flotation, Dewatering and Tailings.
Develop an understanding of all the mill circuits through training, reading, and hands-on experience.
Identify maintenance problems and maintain acceptable housekeeping in designated area.
Dedication to safety, equipment care, and the environment.
Operate mobile equipment and overhead crane as required by their particular circuit.

Qualifications

Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent required
6 months mineral processing and/or 2 years milling and/or 4 years industrial experience required
Experience as a leader is highly desirable
High mechanical aptitude
Valid driver’s license with access to personal transportation
Eagerness to learn and develop through the mill operator progression system
Ability to be flexible in job tasks and responsibilities so that work is balanced between team members
Demonstrated ability to share knowledge gained with others and the ability to solve problems
Knowledge of Delta V or similar system and troubleshooting capabilities

Other Requirements

Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:

Successful completion of pre-placement functional screen
Provide proof of a valid driver’s license
Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements

Compensation

A competitive salary, performance bonus plan and benefits will be provided. This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
