Are you seeking an opportunity to specialize in the challenge of safely returning equipment back to operations in a timely and cost-effective manner? In this role you will focus on supporting the day to day operation of our Coarse Tailings pipelines. You will support the safe and reliable operation of equipment by applying mechanical engineering fundamentals to develop scopes of work for line shut downs and making improvement recommendations to the Cross-Functional Team (CFT).
Minimum Requirements:
  • An undergraduate degree in Engineering
  • Four years of mechanical engineering work experience
  • A solid understanding of design, operation, and maintenance of equipment
  • Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards related to engineering discipline
  • An understanding and experience with maintenance processes
  • The ability to anticipate potential problems and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions, as well as having a strong sense of accountability
  • Strong collaboration and non-authoritative leadership skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
  • Developed problem-solving, prioritization and decision-making skills
  • Professional Engineer status from APEGA, or eligible to obtain your P.Eng

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the equipment in the cross functional team (CFT) is maintained in a cost-effective manner
  • Monitor asset health and provide the Reliability lead recommendations to meet reliability targets
  • Lead management of change initiatives to address risks associated with required equipment changes
  • Work with vendors, supply chain, and quality assurance to ensure high quality materials are received and installed
  • Collaborate with the reliability and maintenance teams to drive continuous improvement for assets
  • Inspect work at external fabrication and repair shops when required.
  • Lead and support incident investigations
  • Facilitate the sustainment of Maintenance and Reliability Asset Information by rectifying deficiencies in master data, and updating drawings for CFT assets
  • Support sustainment of asset strategies by providing recommendations based on asset condition
  • Aid in routine maintenance planning and execution, as well as major events and turnarounds by providing technical guidance
Location and other Key Details:
  • You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
  • Relocation support will be provided
  • You will be required to work in both indoor and outdoor environments
  • You will be driving/navigating through rough outdoor terrain from time to time to gain access to some of our facilities. This will involve haul road interaction
