The Mechanical Designer is responsible for preparing complete sets of mechanical drawings, dimensional diagram (DD’s) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID’s), using conventional drafting and 3-dimentional techniques.
Your Responsibilities …
- Ability to handle responsibilities with effective interpersonal skills.
- Prepares complete sets of mechanical drawings which include technical layout, multiple views, detail drawings and assembly drawings, several cross-sectional and subassembly drawings required. Some electrical knowledge required.
- Maintains proper documentation and database changes.
- Determines most appropriate views, prepares final drawings and supplementary information necessary to complete assignments, selects required information from precedents, manufacturers, catalogs, and technical guides.
- Utilizes mathematical formulas to compute weights, load capacities, dimensions, quantities of material, etc.
- Interfaces with internal staff as well as customers, agents, or vendors regarding technical issues pertaining to parts, design, usage, specifications, etc.
- May perform design work generally limited to complex layout of equipment based on standards and established practices with assignments designed to develop increasing knowledge of product application.
- May establish or modify product documentation system to simplify and automate the process.

Education Required:
- 2-3 year Degree/Certificate in Mechanical Technology field.
Experience Required: 3-5 years experience in manufacturing industry preferred; proficient using computer software AutoCad 2D and Inventor 3-D.

Physical Skill and Effort: Limited manual dexterity required. Work requires infrequent physical effort. Requires moderate speed and accuracy operating office equipment. Work requires simple, easy muscular movements.
Working Conditions and Hazards: Normal plant, shop, field or office conditions. From time to time, slightly disagreeable features. Negligible/little or no exposure to hazardous conditions.
