Position Overview:
Responsibilities:
Marketing Coordination
- Work with neighbourhood business owners from up to 20 suburban business areas, to develop unique shop local marketing campaigns
- Conceptualize, design, develop, facilitate and execute marketing plans for suburban business areas
- Actively manage and update a website, including conceptualizing, designing and executing campaigns to support neighbourhood business areas
- Actively use social media tools to promote neighbourhood business areas
Program Coordination
- Coordinate the full execution of neighbourhood level micro events, aimed at attracting local residents to neighbourhood business areas. This may include recruiting performers, recruiting partners, liaising with music and cultural organizations, administering contracts, ensuring programs are executed appropriately, liaising with sponsors, etc.
- Using a community building approach, conceptualize, develop, facilitate and execute new event programs as opportunities arise
- Actively pursue sponsorship and grant opportunities
- Monitor and track program budgets to ensure budget adherence
Requirements:
- Must have a 3-year post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications, Arts, Journalism, Marketing, Advertising, Business Administration, Public Relations, Event Management or equivalent
- Must have a minimum of 2 years related experience marketing, communications, brand development and/or public relation, community development or community program related work
- Must be able to demonstrate professional experience in brand development
- Must be able to demonstrate professional experience implementing a brand and/or marketing strategy through social media and web based platforms
- Must be able to demonstrate professional experience in community building
- Must have analytical and problem solving skills
- Must be able to work outside of regularly scheduled business hours to meet program and event requirement
- Must have the ability to participate as an energetic, positive team member
- Must have the ability to have developed diplomacy skills
- Must be able to demonstrate professional experience in event planning and event management
- Must be able to demonstrate experience securing sponsorships and grants
- Must be able to demonstrate experience in partnership and team building
- Must have experience using, or an ability to learn, HTML and Photoshop
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with user-groups and technical staff
- Must be able to demonstrate an ability to think creatively
- Preference may be given to those candidates with experience in advertising and/or advertising sales
