Main Responsibilities

Working closely with internal and cross functional team members and ensuring priorities are actioned within agreed timescales (Including but not limited to):

• To Define standard work packages and procedures for Operational requirements.
• To Liaise with internal customers. Establishing precise expectations & identifying where anomalies/inconsistencies arise.
• To Control the content, revision and upgrade of process specifications that clarifies/simplifies design documents
• To Respond to customer, partner, supplier and factory requests for mechanical engineering assistance where product product design and material conformity problems are encountered.
• To Resolve technical issues related to product application processes.
• To Provide a technical support role for design assessments, both routine and product proving.
• To Liaise with internal & external functions to propose/provide timely and cost-effective design or other technical activities.
• To Ensure adequate feedback to projects and customers on defects and causes through detailed and consistent analysis.
• To provide Manufacturing support with shop floor Production layouts and task sequencing.
• During specification and preliminary design phases:
• Bring ideas to the Process Engineer or the PIM to guide product definition in order to improve the product manufacturability and achieve QCD targets.
• Participate to the product design reviews when required.
• Estimate Method Time.
• During detailed design phase and before Serial Go:
• Participate to P-FMEA.
• Participate to validation of prototypes if any.
• Request tooling when needed and write tooling specifications.
• Depending on the domain: perform ERP routings, Work Instructions, Inspection Instructions, program for CNC machines. And this ensuring good EHS and ergonomic conditions.
• Perform work stations task sequencing.
• Validate product design and industrialization through FAR and FAI.
• Calculate precise Method Time.
• After serial Go:
• Industrialize retrofit after engineering changes: Routings, Work Instructions, and tooling.
• Support Production to achieve manufacturing QCD targets.
• Participate to continuous improvement workshops. (Ex: SWIP)
• Contribute to industrial REX on manufacturing processes.
  
  

Desired Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in a similar position from one (1) to three (3) years (preferably in the railway industry)
• Technical knowledge of working with an ERP system (SAP), with IS common tools (Catia, Autocad, etc.)
• Working knowledge of quality, EHS and ergonomics standards.
• Familiar with lean manufacturing principles (TPS, GEMBA, KAIZEN, etc)
• Familiar with industrial processes and analysis tools/methodologies (FMEA, QRQC, MTM, line balance, etc.)
• Excellent communication skills in English required (French an asset)
