Manager of Agronomy – Winnipeg, MB

We are seeking a highly resourceful, detail-oriented professional to fill the role of Manager of Agronomy at our Head Office and Sir William Stephenson Research Center (SWSRC) in Winnipeg, MB. Reporting to the Director of Crop Inputs, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the strategic growth and profitability of the Crop Inputs Division.

Responsibilities:

• Development of retail strategies involving agronomic solutions that will drive sales;
• Management of technical customer relationships including SWSRC clients and suppliers;
• Providing training to the team on agronomy related technologies;
• Business management of agronomic services and SWSRC activities;
• Development and execution of the agronomy services business plan;
• Development and management of the trial plot programs at the SWSRC;
• Work with product line managers to develop product and season related sales strategies;
• Deliver / execute on a 5-year strategic agronomy plan;
• HR management of staff at the SWSRC including hiring mentoring and performance management;
• Operational management including supporting health and safety initiatives across the company;
• Financial planning around the agreed upon business plans for Agronomic Services and the SWSRC;

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture/Agronomy or 5+ years of related experience;
• Eligibility for membership with the Manitoba Institute of Agrologists;
• CCA designation is considered an Asset;
• Must have excellent business acumen, strategic thinking and strong leadership abilities for consideration;
• Knowledge of the Western Canadian agricultural industry, experience in dryland crop production and understanding of agronomic practices;
• Experience working with field plots and demonstrated skills in statistical analysis, interpretation and presentation;
• Demonstrated verbal and written presentation and communication skills with strong PC and database management skills;
