SCHOOL LOUIS RIEL SCHOOL DIVISION BOARD OFFICE

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Manager of Human Resources is accountable to the Assistant Superintendent and is responsible for supervising and
coordinating the effective management of all human resources professional support services pertaining to all employee
groups. The incumbent will assist with the human resources planning and staffing processes, manage the Human
Resources Information System (NAV) and the Attendance Management System (AMS), coordinate recruitment and
selection, employee on-boarding, and performance management/appraisals processes, provide professional development
and training, support collective bargaining, assist with employee and labour relations, and manage record-keeping of all
personnel files and data. The Manager will also provide direction and supervision to the Human Resources Coordinators,
Human Resources Assistants, Substitute System Operator, Administrative Assistant, and casual staff as required.
REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: •
Completion of formal post-secondary in Human Resources Management, Human Resources university degree •
Completion of Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation
A minimum of 5 years related experience in human resources
A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience
Strong understanding of human resources related legislation including employment, labour relations, human rights, and

privacy, and of collective agreement language
Ability to work effectively and with diplomacy in accordance with Divisional policies, procedures, collective agreement

provisions and established practices •
Knowledge and experience managing employee leave of absences, return to work programs, and accommodation

process. •
Strong leadership, supervisory and organizational abilities
Excellent interpersonal, public relations, communication, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, change

management and team building skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Training and experience on HRIS software and databases required; experience with Navision an asset
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Outlook required
Computer programming training and experience required
Basic accounting knowledge and experience an asset
Strong organizational and time management skills, initiative and keen attention to detail •
Excellent understanding of the role of confidentiality and ethics in Human Resources •
Bilingualism (English/French) would also be an asset
