Main Functional Activities Include

• A Labourer’s primary function is to support the needs of the supervisor they report to in a safe and conscientious manner.
• A Labourer will be responsible for field duties as requested by their superior and can include items such as housekeeping, filing, organizing, receiving, moving material to the work areas, driving to obtain materials, etc.
• Loading and unloading construction materials, and moving them to work areas.
• Installing and removing concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks and barricades at construction sites.
• Mixing, pouring and spreading materials such as concrete and asphalt.
• Assisting heavy equipment operators to secure attachments to equipment.
• Signaling heavy equipment operators to guide them in moving equipment.
• Assisting in aligning pipes and performing related activities.
• Assisting in drilling and blasting rock at construction sites.
• Levelling earth to fine grade specifications using rakes and shovels.
• Assisting in demolishing buildings.
• Removing rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment.
  

General Expectations

Performance Expectations:

• In addition to the Safety Training provided by the company, will proactively continue to learn and understand the requirements of Health and Safety legislation and safety policies through recommended reading provided by HR. Will act to warn or rectify any unsafe conditions.
• Is Punctual and Flexible with respect to the project requirements and schedules.
• Will understand and follow all policies.
• Will work with and maintain positive working relationships with fellow employees, management, the Client, and any other trades and authorities they meet.
  

Position Specific Expectations

• Receive and carry out work based on detailed instructions from their Superior.
• Will ask questions to ensure they fully understand the scope prior to starting the work.
• Provide quality work within the allotted time frame defined by their supervisor.
  

Skill Qualifications

• Driver’s License in good standing.
• Police Check/Security Clearance will be required for this position.
• Time-management and communication skills are a must.
• Demolition experience considered an asset.
