Position summary:

This position ensures completes various food services tasks to ensure operations meet timelines to help the kitchen run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in preparing meals as directed by the cook
  • Serving meals and setting up dining room
  • Assisting in receiving, processing and delivering of all donated and purchased food and related items
  • Cleaning and sanitizing dishes, utensils, and work surfaces
  • Maintaining cleanliness of food processing and storing areas, including floors and equipment
  • Following guidelines for the safety and security of food and equipment
  • Ensuring disposal of food waste is done appropriately, in accordance with the regulations
  • Keeping simple records and completing incident reports as necessary

Qualifications and Education requirements:

Education/Certifications:

  • High School Certificate

Experience:

· Experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Ability to work in a flexible team environment with minimal supervision
  • Pass a Police Information Check (at candidate’s expense)
  • Desire to support the Mission and Core Values of The Salvation Army.

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

  • Background check consent
  • A satisfactory Police Information Check (PIC) with Vulnerable Sector search
  • A proof of successful completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training, and required Health and Safety training

In support of our commitment to a healthy and safe workplace and community, The Salvation Army (TSA) has a vaccination requirement for all employees in Canada. The successful candidate will be made an offer of employment on the condition of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and will be required to provide proof of full vaccination, prior to their employment start date. The requirement to be fully vaccinated is subject to provincial/territorial human rights legislation. If the candidate is unable to vaccinate for a reason protected by the Human Rights Code, a request for accommodation can be submitted and written proof satisfactory to TSA will be required.

DAYS and HOURS of work: Full Time – 40 hours per week. (Thursday to Monday. Shifts are 6:00 am – 2:30 pm. or 11:00 am – 7:30 pm.) Must be able to work mornings, evenings and weekends.

POSITION EXPECTED END DATE: March 18 2022.
