Join the dynamic UR International team at the University of Regina as the new International Relations and Partnerships Specialist. This exciting role offers a unique opportunity to help shape the future of our institution by facilitating initiatives with key stakeholders, both on and off campus. This position reports to the Manager, International Relations and Partnerships (IRP) and supports the IRP team in providing in-depth content, research and analytics to guide UofR’s international stakeholder initiatives.

As the International Relations and Partnerships Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Facilitate new international initiatives between UofR and external stakeholders;
  • Assist in developing, drafting, and finalizing international agreements (such as Memorandum of Understanding, Student Exchange Program Agreements, Articulation Agreements, etc.) for campus stakeholders as required;
  • Collaborate with various external sectors (including educational institutions, community organizations, and government agencies in Canada and abroad, etc.) to negotiate, renew, revise or terminate agreements;
  • Consult with relevant campus units and seek advice from UofR legal counsel when needed to ensure that agreements comply with university requirements, policies and procedures;
  • Act as keeper for international agreements using the University system and ensure the accuracy of data entered into the system;
  • Work with the Manager by providing speaking points/notes related to international engagement to support the University’s senior leadership and other key stakeholders;
  • Develop briefing notes on countries, institutions, and other subject areas (including biographical information on visitors and background information on institutions) and generate partnership reports to analyze outcomes with existing partners and identify new opportunities;
  • Support the organization of events with governments and partner institutions as required;
  • Coordinate activities, meetings and events with visitors and delegations based on delegation requests and accompanies incoming and outgoing delegations as required;
  • Ensure appropriate protocol is followed when interacting with international delegations, and expectations of delegations are met;
  • Maintain records related to all delegations and missions in the systems and relevant database;
  • Organize the University’s international missions, including coordinating travel itineraries and meetings, making travel arrangements, preparing promotional materials as necessary, assisting with pre-departure and follow-up debriefing sessions; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Education:
  • An undergraduate degree in an appropriate discipline.

Experiences:
  • A minimum of three years of work experience in an administrative environment.
  • Experience working in a professional capacity internationally will be a vital asset.
  • Experience in international travel, volunteerism, or study will be an asset.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Skills:
  • Demonstrate solid cross-cultural understanding and ability to practice sound judgment and professionalism when working with internal and external partners and stakeholders of diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of culture, business etiquette, traditions, and diplomatic protocol.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with agreement negotiation and drafting.
  • Knowledge of writing memos, official letters, contracts, agreements, and reports.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters diplomatically and discretely.
  • Possess high-level accountability, self-motivation and the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office, internet/web email, and University databases.
  • Fluency in a second language is an asset.
Physical Demands Pay Grade APT 3 Salary Range $58,524 - $79,004 Annually Status Term Work Hours
Monday to Friday: 8:15 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Working beyond regular working hours might be required due to the nature of the work environment and portfolio.
Travel within Canada and abroad may be required on occasion.
