Purpose

Reporting to a Lead Process Engineer, you may lead small brownfield projects and/or provide process design support on larger projects to the Lead Process Engineer. The position has close interaction with other members of Process & Technology North America West team and as well as other disciplines.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a Lead Process Engineer you are responsible for:
  • Completing conceptual and/or detailed process engineering designs of new or revamp/additions to existing facilities
  • Developing design basis documents and reports
  • Carrying out calculations, design development and process simulations including providing process specifications for equipment and instrumentation
  • Creating, reviewing and revising process deliverables like PFDs, P&IDs, Line Lists, and data sheets as well as supporting Plot Plan and Piping Layout development
  • Reviewing and applying relevant standards, regulations, codes and guidelines applicable for task, identify areas of deviation or concern
  • Responsible for working within and following company work procedures, process technical guidelines, quality assurance plans, safety regulations and specific customer/project procedures.
  • Interfacing and coordination between other discipline engineers and project management staff
  • Authenticating any of the above process deliverables per the customer requirements
What You Will Bring

Technical and Industry Experience:
  • New Energy or Downstream facility designs and plant operations including but not limited to hydrogen, renewable diesel, refinery, upgrader, and/or petrochemical.
Process Deliverable Production
  • Understand hydraulics, heat transfer and thermodynamics
  • Design Basis Development
  • PFD, P&IDs, LDTs and plot layouts
  • Ability to specify process equipment, various types and configurations, including benefits/shortfalls particular to a certain application
  • Instrumentation and controls process design
  • Over pressure protection relief device system design
  • Understanding of potential process hazards and experience in Risk Assessments
  • API 520/521, ASME B31 & Section VIII, ABSA AB525 & OPPSD
Software Skills
  • Process Modeling Software (UniSim, HYSYS, ProII, ProMax, ProTreat)
  • Hydraulic Modeling Software (AFT Fathom/Arrow/Impulse, SPS)
  • Flare Modeling Software (Flare System Analyzer/Visual Flare)
  • Exchanger Modelling (HTRI, EDR, UniSim Exchanger Suite)
  • Knowledge of standard programs (Excel, BlueBeam Revu)
Required

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training
  • The position requires a Professional Engineer with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and a minimum of 5-12 years in process design and professional registration in the Province of Alberta.
