We are currently looking for an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to support our growing Dam Engineering Practice. This position will work with our team of recognized industry experts within our Western Canada Engineering Group and will also have the opportunity to support other engineering projects from various market sectors. The ideal candidate is passionate and enjoys working on a wide variety of projects from assessment and planning to design and construction.

Responsibilities
  • Perform site inspections for dam safety-related work
  • Complete geotechnical evaluations, monitoring and testing programs, and analysis
  • Prepare engineering assessment and design reports
  • Support the development of detailed design plans and tender documents
  • Support Construction Management activities including onsite inspection
  • Develop remedial designs of earth and rockfill embankment dams, and various other water-impounding structures
  • Present findings to clients and regulators
  • Manage clients, projects, deliverables, proposal writing, cost estimating, scheduling
  • Participate in Business Development (BD) activities including preparing or providing input to proposals, and conferences
  • Display a ‘safety first’ attitude, promoting positive health and safety, raising safety issues through the appropriate channels and adhering to Company health and safety policy and procedures
  • Execute projects in compliance with Tetra Tech Canada Quality Management System procedures, communicate with team and client, reconcile financials, and archive files upon completion
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering required
  • 7+ years of demonstrable progressive engineering and/or project management experience
  • Registered P.Eng. in British Columbia or other provinces
  • Proficient with various design software e.g. GeoStudio (SLOPE/W, etc.), Rocscience, AllPile, and/or HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS software.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with input and review from senior staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience writing technical reports and project proposals.
  • Strong organizational skills with project management capabilities.
  • Confident in managing professional relationships including liaison with clients.
  • Experience with CDA guidance documents, BC Dam Safety documents, HSRC Code, dam safety evaluations, and dam engineering analysis, design, and construction.
