Human Resources Permanent, Full-time, 80 hours bi-weekly; Days

The Human Resources Consultant supports agency-wide efforts including consulting on employee relations matters including performance management, managing all employee leaves of absence and leading the return to work program. They coordinate the administration of Marymound’s employee benefits programs and Workplace Safety & Health initiatives.

WORKING CONDITIONS: 80 hours bi-weekly, working on business days (Monday-Friday). Some overtime may be required when working on special projects, or in times of human resource/health & safety emergencies. Sitting for long periods of time in an office environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coaches supervisors on employee relations matters including performance and conflict management, assisting in the administration of performance improvement notifications, training plans and progress tracking methods;
  • Administers company compensation and benefit programs, such as medical, insurance, retirement, and savings plans;
  • Oversees the case management of all leaves in compliance with agency, provincial and federal regulations, including long-term disability and

Workers’ Compensation claims, and protected government;

  • Manages workplace accommodation matters and return to work programs in collaboration with supervisors;
  • Contributes expertise to the development and delivery of human resource training tools, manuals, policies and seminars;
  • Facilitates the talent acquisition process for assigned program areas/positions including pre-screening candidates, arranging and facilitating interviews, conducting applicable background checks, and negotiating employment offers;
  • Acts as Co-Chair of the Benefits Committee, responsible for collaboratively proposing and deciding on benefit changes;
  • Oversees the internal communication efforts within the organization including how to relay information to employees, receive regular employee feedback;
  • Manage internal communication with staff using a variety of vehicles including but not limited to: email, quarterly newsletter, intranet, feedback box, and internal forums such as world cafes;
  • Oversees Marymound quarterly onboarding process and including welcome packages;
  • Acts as Co-Chair (Employer representative) of the Marymound Workplace Health & Safety Committee: o Develops and updates workplace health and safety policies and procedures in collaboration with the committee; o Administers, implements and coordinates the requirements of the Workplace Health & Safety Program including required trainings,

Job Hazard Analyses and Safe Work Procedures; o Coordinates meetings, creates agendas, sends meeting notifications, etc.

  • Demonstrates an active commitment towards professional growth and advancement through participation in training, workshops, etc.
  • Provides back-up coverage to the Human Resources/Payroll department as required;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resource Management;
  • Minimum five years’ experience performing a broad range of Human Resource functions including employee relations, performance management, leave and benefit administration and recruitment;
  • Knowledge of current employment practices, human rights legislation, and the employment standards code;
  • Experience in Workplace Safety and Health administration is considered an asset;
  • Experience with human resource databases and HRIS systems is essential.
  • Demonstrated discretion with highly confidential information;
  • Excellent computer skills with direct experience using Microsoft Office programs;
  • Superior organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance and prioritize multiple responsibilities while maintaining a keen sense of accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Ability to remain calm and professional while under pressure or when faced with difficult situations;
  • Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Excellent written communication skills;
  • Basic payroll knowledge is considered an asset;
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license, and access to a reliable vehicle;
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record and clear Vulnerable Sector checks;
  • Clear Child Abuse Registry and satisfactory Prior Contact checks;
