Out of Scope

Remote or Hybrid work options may be available at the discretion of the manager. The successful candidate will be expected to meet the working from home requirements and sign a remote work agreement.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, evaluating training programs for brokers and external partners across SGI and SGI CANADA. In this role, you will conduct training needs assessments and recommend appropriate learning delivery methods. You will also provide a strategic view and approach to learning and ensures content alignment and integration with the overall Partner Value Delivery strategies. The successful candidate will partner with the business and Broker Education Representatives (BERs) on key learning initiatives, ensuring alignment to business outcomes, and support the continuous review and refinement of learning programs to ensure adoption. You will design and create the learning framework and ensure learning is engaging, effective, and designed for optimal learner experience to drive broker performance and engagement. Finally, you will support BERs in facilitating soft skill leadership training for brokers, as required.

Key Accountabilities

Learning Design, Development and Delivery
  • Provides strategic oversight to overall broker training program design, ensuring alignment of broker training to employee training through standards set out by Corporate Technical Training (CTT) where appropriate. This includes leveraging existing training developed through the CTT program and adjusts the content to deliver to brokers.
  • Participates in the research and implementation of industry best practices for the development and delivery of learning programs.
  • Designs, develops and/or sources new learning content and program curriculums for general broker programming; collaborates with BERs and SMEs on content as required. This includes development and execution of Request for Proposals related to outsourcing of training related programs.
  • Leads the design or redesign of learning plans and programs to ensure proper design principles are incorporated to meet learning and development objectives.
  • Works with CTT where a process change is identified as impacting both employees and brokers. Collaborate and work in partnership with CTT in the design and development of an appropriate learning product(s).
  • Leverages and modifies corporate learning courses to assess fit and develops a delivery plan for Brokers.
  • Collaborates with BER on the rollout of initiatives resulting from Broker Training Frameworks.
  • Responds to broker human resource department training requests; conducts needs assessments to confirm requirements and determine appropriate solution (i.e. create or source training, divisional leadership sessions, team engagement requests, etc.).
  • Works with Manager, Broker Education on SGI convention training programs.

Learning Effectiveness/Evaluation
  • Partners with the internal and external business/SMEs and BER on broker key learning initiatives to establish learning outcome benchmarks, ensures alignment to business outcomes, and supports the continuous review and refinement of broker learning programs to ensure adoption and drive performance.
  • Collaborates with Broker Education business area and the business SMEs to develop and report on metrics within assigned area.
  • Collaborates with Broker Education on establishing a framework and process for evaluating and assessing effectiveness of learning programs; work with other learning consultants, instructional designers and business areas to ensure alignment of practices.
  • Ensures adoption of learning is measured and achieved through participant feedback, broker observation through on the job results and consultation with BER and SMEs.
  • Creates a cycle of continuous improvement to ensure training tools and methods are regularly reviewed and refined.
  • Works with Broker Education business area to ensure training packaging is aligned to SGI brand standards.

Program and Policy Management
  • Manages applicable policies to the Broker Education business area and regularly reviews, updates and make recommendations for changes to existing and or new learning related policies.
  • Maintains awareness and understanding of what is happening in the organization and in the broker industry, consults with Broker Education business area and provides support to ensure learning programs continue to meet the needs of brokers.
  • Completes industry related learning and development surveys.
  • Compiles data and summarize into annual reports.

Leadership
  • Actively contributes to and supports a culture of a high performing workforce.

Corporate Management
  • Enables the success of programs and policies that are in alignment with corporate, strategic and divisional strategies.
  • Manages risk in area of authority.
  • Ensures that the Health, Safety and Emergency Management Policy is applied in area of responsibility.

Education And Experience
  • Four-year degree from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study such as Business.
  • Certificate or diploma in adult education.
  • Five years’ experience in instructional design, human resources or relevant field.
  • A Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) and/or a Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) designation would be considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Knowledge of adult education principles and instructional design methodologies including conducting training needs assessments and developing training sessions and materials.
  • Knowledge of brokerage operations, principles and practices of insurance.
  • Knowledge of HR functions and how they interconnect.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge if managing projects and applying agile methodology.
  • Ability to facilitate training programs and prepare and deliver effective presentations.
  • Ability to research best practices and commitment to stay current in the learning and development field.

Pay Range:$75,552.00 - $100,728.00
