Job Title: Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP)

Business Unit: Emera Corporate Human Resources

Location: Halifax, NS

Type of Employment: Permanent, Full Time

The opportunity:

We are currently looking for an HRBP to join our Corporate HR team. Reporting to the Manager HR Operations, the HRBP will become an integral member of our dynamic team and work with other HR team members to deliver core HR programs and new initiatives within the business. Utilizing a customer focused approach to work, the HRBP will work closely with all levels of employees to proactively identify areas of improvement and work to solve them.

Accountabilities:

More specifically, in this role you will:
  • Demonstrate a customer focused mindset;
  • Partner with business leaders to proactively identify opportunities and create plans for to support business initiatives;
  • Coach, challenge and support leaders at all levels;
  • Provide HR policy, and legislation guidance and interpretation;
  • Assist with employee issues and provide investigation assistance as required;
  • Analyze metrics to determine trends for action;
  • Lead the planning, delivery and facilitation of HR initiatives;
  • Provide change management guidance and support;
  • Demonstrate health and safety leadership, including psychological safety.

You will be responsible for your personal safety, that of coworkers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

Skills, Competencies and Experience:

As the ideal candidate you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and possess or are working towards the desired skills and experience listed below:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, degree in Business Administration or other related field with relevant experience will also be considered;
  • Demonstrated business acumen;
  • 3-5 years experience as an HR Generalist or similar role;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a project and ensure deliverables are met;
  • Experience in guiding a work group through change;
  • Able to facilitate training or meetings as required;
  • Strong ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the organization;
  • Strong leadership presence and ability to manage stakeholder relations;
  • Ability to build partnerships with business leaders;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet deadlines;
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to develop, recommend and implement innovative solutions;
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, focusing on collaboration and ‘win-win’ outcomes;
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential issues.
