Like family, we support our staff to always do better.With over 70 locations spanning from coast to coast, and trade links around the globe, P&H is growth-oriented, diversified and vertically integrated with operations spanning across grain merchandising, flour milling, crop input distribution and animal feed production.Skills and experience for the next step in your career.As a Health and Safety Intern /Co-op Student, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and supporting PHG’s safety program and objectives.Your day-to-day activities will include:

• Become familiar with regulations pertaining to noise and dust
• Develop a noise and lung conversation program and policy
• Creation of methodology and gathering data at various locations at P&H, based on a variety of different operational tasks
• Data to be used to support WSIB / WCB physical demands
• Preparation of findings, trends, recommendations needed to ensure appropriate PPE (including facial hair requirements) is identified
• Selection of testing equipment
• Assist with updating hazard assessments to support our hazard prevention program
• Some travel is required; provincially and / or interprovincially
• Support H&S Department with other safety initiatives

The successful candidate should enter the position with the following qualifications:

• Currently enrolled or recently completed a post-secondary OHS program/certificate, specializing in industrial hygiene
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and virtual meeting platforms (Teams, GoToMeeting, Zoom).
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, along with great attention to detail.
• Ability to research and identify reliable sources of information.
• Agricultural industry knowledge is an asset
