We are currently recruiting for a Ground Test Engineer to join our Engineering team in Calgary, AB, Victoria, BC, or Toronto, ON.

Position Summary

The Ground Test Engineerwill work with a team developing test methodologies. Designing test fixture and rigs, using instrumentations, preparing specimens, for investigations, developments and certifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:

  • Be responsible for the advanced planning, developing and testing of various aircraft components for small scale rigs up to full scale aircraft level structural tests such as static, durability and damage tolerance tests.
  • Analyze and design test specimens, test rigs and loading fixtures.
  • Coordinate and monitor all phases of the design/build/test process from inception to completion, including planning and organizing the acquisition of materials, hardware, equipment, test apparatus set up, and arrangement of support from internal and external suppliers.
  • Work with various departments and suppliers to their requirements.
  • Participate in the definition and selection of data acquisition systems, load control systems, and measurement methods, including the collection, reduction and analysis of test data.
  • Create drawings, procedures, test reports.
  • Support and develop test instrumentation for use in aircraft flight testing.

Additional Functions:

  • Actively works to improve daily processes and ensures all work meets customer requirements
  • Maintains a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company product
  • Performs other duties such as Internal Audit Support, Airworthiness containment activities and corrective action implementation

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent to perform the essential functions related to this posting.
  • 5 years industry experience, ideally in a structural or systems test organization.
  • Working knowledge of experiment mechanics and with load control and data acquisition system equipment.

Skills

  • You are a team player, have problem solving, flexibility and project management skills
  • You have excellent communication skills (written and spoken) in English
  • Creative mind set in developing and resolving unique technical solutions
  • Licensed or eligible for licensing as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia or Ontario
